Fall Weather and Portra 400

A little over a week ago I had the pleasure of photographing the Delgado family on their property. The weather was perfect, the sun was right where I needed it to be, and the entire family was great during the entire shoot.

I burned through five rolls of Kodak Portra 400 and one roll of Fuji Pro 400h. I personally prefer the look of Portra but always try to incorporate some Fuji Pro into the shoot. I overexposed all the film by 1 stop and metered using an external meter.

I used my trusty Pentax 6×7 for the shoot, along with the 105mm f2.4, 200mm f4, and the giant 55mm f3.5 (100mm filter thread size!!). My digital also tagged along for back up purposes.

Although I was able to begin post-processing on the digital shots as soon as I got home, it wasn’t until I received the scans from The FIND Lab that I was truly satisfied (read: smiling ’til it hurt). It actually felt like I was getting photos of my own family! The gratifying nature of film is difficult to beat!
